Every parent has experienced the situation of a baby crying inconsolably. It is distressing when it seems that nothing can stop him. The usual reasons are hunger, cold and because they want cuddling. It is not always easy, however, to stop them crying. Colic, stress, a need to free their tension … crying is the only way babies have to communicate. In spite of everything, today we would like to give you some tips to try and stop your baby crying. Don’t miss a stitch!

  • Observe

A baby crying inconsolably can make everyone nervous, and so then at times we do not carefully observe the signs as to why he is crying. It is very important to find out what is the cause of the baby’s unease, even though we are aware that this is not easy.

  • Physical contact

A human lap is a baby’s natural place, as opposed to a cot or pushchair. This does not mean that we always have to hold our babies in our arms, but we should when they are demanding our attention. Jean Liedloff, an American anthropologist, affirms this theory in her book The Continuum Concept.

  • Blankets

A baby blanket is an essential part of having a newborn baby at home. Babies feel protected if we wrap them up in comfort and gentleness, creating a sensation similar to when they were in their mother’s womb.

  • A relaxing bath

The relaxing effects of water, for both adults and children, are most beneficial. If the baby is over excited or upset, a bath will help him remember his time in the womb.

  • Monotonous sounds

Washing machines, tumble dryers and ventilators are examples of appliances that make a repetitive sound. Once again, this helps babies recall their time in the womb, when they could hear their mother’s stomach or heartbeat.

Every child is different and these tips will not work like mathematical algorithms, but they are valid tools to employ at times of anxiousness.
