Babies’ and children’s clothes play a very important role in their daily activity as they have to feel comfortable and safe in order to move around freely. In this post we will give you some tips about how to dress your children in the right way and a list of essential garments that they should always have in their wardrobe. Don’t miss a stitch!
- Comfortable clothes. Whether for school or a special event, children’s clothes should always be comfortable, and at the same time suitable for whatever they are going to do on the day in question. So you should go for quality materials that do not tear or wear out straight away, and do not irritate their skin. It’s also good to choose designs and shapes that let them move around freely.
- Safe clothes. Apart from comfortable, clothes should also be safe. In order to prevent possible accidents, we should check that clasps and buttons are not about to fall off. Clothes should also be easy to put on and take off, so that children don’t get impatient when they are getting dressed.
- The right size. If their clothes are too small or too tight, apart from being uncomfortable, it could be a risk for their health, making their skin sore from rubbing against it. On the other hand, if their clothes are too big, even though we can fold them over or have some alterations made, it will still be uncomfortable for them, limiting their movements and making them feel insecure.
- The right clothes for each season. When it comes to dressing our children correctly, we should not wrap them up either too much or too little. The best thing is to adapt their clothes to the weather each day. In winter we should protect them from the cold and keep them warm all day, but without taking things too far and making them hot and sweaty. In a previous post we explained how to keep children warm in winter. On hot days we would recommend fresh clothes made of light and breathable materials such as cotton or linen. We should also protect them from the sun with a hat, cap or parasol, if they are going out in the buggy or pushchair.
- Fun and fashionable designs. Just like adults, children like to keep up with fashion and look good. PAZ Rodríguez collections are based on the latest trends in children’s clothes, while a design team works hard on each collection to create original and fun clothes that are full of fantasy.
5 essential items in your baby’s wardrobe
Now that you know what we would recommend in order to dress your babies and children correctly, we will explain the basic things that they should all have.
- Bodysuits are basic for dressing babies. They should have clasps between the legs to make it easier to change their nappy. They can be used as under or outerwear with a shirt or jersey on top. As for dresses, it’s a good idea to have a matching nappy cover, so that they look nicer, making it smarter and more stylish and no less comfortable.
- Rompers. Rompers are also very popular in the first few months of a baby’s life. They are very comfortable and easy to put on and take off. In winter, they can be used as underwear to keep children warm – in which case they should be made of a soft warm material. In summer babies can wear rompers with nothing else, made of a finer material so that they don’t get too hot.
- Cardigans. Essential both in summer and in winter. For colder days warm materials are better, while in summer you can use cotton cardigans. Don’t forget that they should be easy to put on and take off.
- A soft shawl or blanket. These are ideal for keeping babies warm at any time of year. Depending on the season they should be thicker or thinner.
- Bonnets, gloves and bootees. Babies lose most body heat from their head, hands and feet, so you will need these items even in the summer. Soft materials like cotton are best, so that it doesn’t rub against their skin and hurt them.
