When you have a baby, your baby bag becomes your best friend, and so when we go out for a walk with our baby, it is important to check we are taking the essential things with us.
Some of us go crazy and put hundreds of things in the bag, and then we have to carry it round with us all day and not use half of them, and others probably do the opposite … and at some point they will need something they haven’t got with them.
The most important thing is to choose the bag that is best adapted to our needs. We should take different factors into account, like size, whether it is waterproof and if it is easy to clean. You will no doubt find the best bag for you in our childcare line 🙂
OK, so what are the essential things that should always be in our baby bag? Here is our top 10.
- Dummies. If your baby uses a dummy always have one with you, and a spare one too just in case he loses it.
- Baby wipes. These will come in handy if we have to change our baby or if he gets dirty. So don’t forget them!
- Nappies. Think about how long you’re going to be out, calculate how many you might need and then take a couple more just in case, but don’t overload your bag with them.
- Bib. It’s always a good idea to have a bib so that your baby doesn’t get his clothes dirty when he’s eating.
- Bottle. If you are not breastfeeding him and you’re going to be out for a while, you’re going to need one.
- Food. If he eats baby food, take a jar, or a yoghourt or small pieces of fruit just in case he gets hungry.
- Clean clothes. It’s quite normal for babies to get dirty, so a couple of sets of clean clothes will solve this kind of problem.
- Toys. Choose small ones that will keep your baby entertained.
- Blanket. To keep your baby nice and warm and cover him if he falls asleep.
- First aid kit. There’s no need to take a survival kit; just some cream, plasters, etc. that will help you in case of need.
